Review! Misadventures with My Roommate (Misadventures #10) by Elizabeth Hayley

Misadventures with my Roommate by Elizabeth Hayley

Blake Monroe hasn’t had the easiest life, but she’s never been one to dwell on her misfortunes, preferring to see the world as a place where you get what you give.

Having had an especially troubling childhood, Blake’s aware she doesn’t exactly fit the definition of “normal.” Her lack of filter, dry sense of humor, and uncanny ability to read people make her rather unique—and difficult to live with. When her latest roommate has had enough of her antics, Blake decides living with a man might suit her better.

Gavin Gibson’s a dreamer whose artsy aspirations don’t meet the high expectations of his wealthy family. Cast off and cut off, Gavin needs a place to live. When he’s invited to share Blake’s quaint apartment, he cannot pass it up. With a knack for spotting the good in others, Gavin can see past Blake’s quirks—and neither of them can ignore their sexual chemistry.

As sparks fly, their genuine affection for each other grows, and Gavin begins to break down Blake’s defenses. But can Blake open up to reveal the damage she’s worked so hard to conceal?

I received a copy via NetGalley and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

Having never read any books by Elizabeth Hayley, I wasn’t sure what I was going to encounter when I opened this book but since I have fallen hard for many of the other Misadventure series and I always love a new adventure, I was ready to go for it! It wasn’t long into Misadventures with My Roommate and I was already swept into the verbal exchange and sparks between Blake and Gavin and ready to see where else this coffee shop/work/roommate romance would take me.

Blake Monroe had me smitten and intrigued from the start with her no filter mouth and quirky ways. Little did I know how much harder I was going to fall for this heroine by the end. Elizabeth kept my heart tied up in knots with this character’s painful childhood and ready to see her fear of intimacy fall by the wayside for the love of a good man. Blake’s story brought tears to my eyes and had me seeing all the beauty of her character beneath her dry wit and sarcastic nature. This heroine had me firmly entrenched in a myriad of emotions from sorrow, humor, admiration, and let’s not forget all the sexy times between her and Gavin that had me mourning more time with these two by the end of the book.

Gavin Gibson is a hero whose photographic abilities allows him to see the beauty that lies just beneath the surface of the ever so candid and skittish Blake. I knew that it would take a special hero to crumble the walls that she has built around herself and Gavin is that and so much more. If he wasn’t making my heart melt, he was causing it to pound with all of his sexy moves that he seduced Blake with anytime and anywhere!

Elizabeth Hayley delivers a romance with two characters that stumble through life and still come out winners. I highly recommend Misadventures of My Roommate for a hilariously and heart wrenching ride! Now that I have read and immensely enjoyed a story filled with awesome and inspiring characters by Elizabeth Hayley, I will definitely be indulging in more reads penned by this author soon!
