Official Review! Snack by Emme Burton

Snack by Emme Burton

Marcus “Snack” Snackenberg is a born ladykiller.
When Minnie Cooper moves back to her dad’s hometown as a child, with her two brothers and Star Wars action figures in tow, they become immediate friends.
By junior high, Minnie, although unaware, is in love with him.
Snack is completely in touch with his feelings for her.
Sometimes the villain in the story isn’t a person.
Sometimes it’s time.
And space.
And fear.
Fear of losing the best friend you’ve ever had.
An overnight romance…twenty-six years in the making.

I absolutely love second chance romance, pair that with the fact that one of my favorite book blogger friends Deb recommended and gifted me this book, and I just had to read it! It just took me forever to take time to do so…sorry Deb! Now that I have taken the time to get to know Minnie and Snack, I regret that I waited so long. I have nothing but love for the slow burn, especially when it is twenty-six years in the making with best friends that have your heart completely twisted from the first chapter! It wasn’t long into their story and I was overfilled from all of the angst and sexual tension brimming between these two.

Marcus Snackenburg or better known as “Snack” is a devastatingly handsome mystery that I couldn’t wait to unwrap. I felt like I was there every step of the way to experience every second of love that blossoms between him and “his girl” that starts at the tender age of six. Emme Burton had me smelling traces of bubble gum and reminiscing about hot summer afternoons, and childhood innocence and mischief right alongside Minnie and Snack. Then when I thought I couldn’t love these two anymore she has me falling deeper in love with their grown up version that are finally ready to experience pleasure and love with each other.

“He’s right here. Your best friend. Your boyfriend. Whatever you want to call me, Minnie. I’ll be whatever you want.”

Minnie Cooper had me enamored from the moment her nerdy side and her love for all things Snack were revealed. She is full of quirks and surprises that at times having you laughing at her ridiculousness or sighing at her childhood crush that becomes something so much more as the years go on. I don’t think I could have fallen harder for this Star Wars lovin’ girl who blossoms into a woman who is finally brave enough to grab a hold of love and happiness with the boy who was always hers.

“Snack claimed me from that moment on. Claimed me, owned me. Ruined me for anyone else. At six years old.”

Emme Burton delivers a love story that has you holding hands, enjoying stolen moments over ice cream, and falling head over heels for this childhood friendship. I highly recommend Snack for an emotional, no holds barred ride through mischievous youth and the love it fosters. Emme Burton gives us history, yearning, and brings us to the height of ecstasy with Snack and Winnie. I can’t wait to enter more of her fictional worlds and equally fascinating characters that I won’t be able to protect my heart against.

“I can’t wait to find out how you taste, Min.” That. Right There. That’s classic Snack! Completely plain words, dripping full of sex.”
