The Hardass

Focused and in control at all times. Most people think I’m a prick—and I’ll be the first to admit that’s probably true. But I’d rather be a take-no-shit cop than the kind of man genetics says I should be. You break the law, you pay the price. I don’t give a damn if you’re the captain’s daughter or the Queen of friggin’ England.

The Princess

I have no patience for the cocky men my father oversees. Or maybe it’s just Sergeant Hardass who gets under my skin. Not only is he sexy as sin, he refuses to cut me a break. And now I have to work with the arrogant jerk.

I shouldn’t want him, but a secret part of me craves his unforgiving edge. He could give me everything I need, but, first, I have to break down his walls.

I have to make him bend.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Molly McLain wowed me and drew me in with her writing and love story between “Country Boy” and Taylor in “Fly and Fight”. So when I had a chance to read “Bend” and get to know another one of her fictional worlds and amazing characters intimately, I was absolutely over the moon! What could be hotter than a motor cross guy? I can now tell you that a hot Las Vegas beat cop can give him a run for his money. Trent not only lit Kinsey’s fire with all of their roadside disagreements, smoldering looks, and heated innuendos, but also the readers as well. Trent and Kinsey are entertaining, hot on a nuclear level, and full of turbulent emotions.

Trent Clark or “Sergeant Hard Ass” as Kinsey likes to refer to him as, is an intense honest cop with a dirty sexual vibe with handcuffs and boy does he know how to use them. I fell immediately and hard for this hero that has a darker side that leaves both readers and Kinsey craving more. Molly had me more addicted with each page and pulse pounding scene between Trent and Kinsey.

“Trent Clark is the kind of man that could ruin me in one night, and not with wine and roses. No, he’d leave me with body aches and residual tremors, torn panties and bruised lips.”

Kinsey Malloy has always been the princess of the police department being the “apple” of her daddy’s eye and has been protected by the men in blue all her life. Now she is grown and is the manager of Chloe’s Closet, a lingerie shop in Vegas. When merchandise starts coming up missing, she soon finds herself in a predicament where she needs the help from none other than Sergeant Hard Ass himself. She soon finds out that Trent has talent for more than just traffic stops. I adored the sassy and beautiful Kinsey who has many layers of naughtiness under that good girl persona.

“The woman’s either got a serious stick up her ass or she’s never been fucked properly. If I had my guess, I’d say she suffers from a little of both.”

Molly McLain delivers a scorching enemies to lovers story that has it all from flashing lights, quick tumbles with twisted panties and disheveled appearances, and being frisked by the hottest fictional cop in Vegas. I highly recommend Bend for a romance that brings the heat and the laughter and leaves us panting for more. Molly McLain has become one of my favorite, “must have all of her books” author since the moment she introduced me to the motor cross world and she has continued to charm me with her sexy, mouth watering cop in the middle of “sin city”. I can’t wait to get my hands on more books from the Vegas Heat series and ogle more of these hot, Vegas men!

Bend is the first in the Vegas Heat series by Molly McClain. All I can say is Wow! This is the hottest book that I have read in quite some time. Molly can sure write a sizzling story that will not let you put it down. I am anxious to read the next one in the series.

“Maybe there’s more to the guy behind the badge than I thought.” Probably but I’m still at least eighty-percent prick. The proof being that I can’t stop thinking about her on her knees.”

Trent is a bad ass fiery cop. He’s the type of guy that likes to talk dirty and sexy. He says what he means and means what he says, especially when he’s teasing and harassing his boss’s daughter, Kinsey. Getting her riled up is all he can do, because she’s completely off-limits. That does not keep him from constantly thinking about her in his bed.

“Yes, Trent, God, like that…” Shoulders pressed against the back of the couch, she throws her head back and grinds hard against my face. I should remind her that I’m in charge right now, but I love this good girl gone bad version of Kinsey and I’ll be damned if I’m going to ruin the moment.”

Kinsey is a sexy little bad ass herself. When Trent keeps pulling her over for stupid things, she’ll go off on him! Unfortunately that just makes him happier to see her mad. She will not be with a cop ever, but she can’t help but notice how damn sexy he is. She does not want to even get slightly involved with him, because she grew up with the cop life and knows it is not for her. When trouble strikes however, who do you think she contacts for help? Can they work on this problem together without jumping on their desires?

Molly McLain has written an exciting book that will keep you entrenched and hanging on till the very end.

About the Author

Like many novelists, especially romance writers, my infatuation with a good love story began early. I don’t remember exactly how old I was, but I’ll admit that Barbie and Ken acted more than a couple of the story lines I had in my head (sorry, Mom, but, no, not all of them were kid-appropriate). The obsession continued to grow as I got older and, whenever I left home, I always had a wire-bound notebook and a blue ballpoint pen in hand. In fact, every August, I still get that goofy, schoolgirl itch to buy up oodles of pens and paper, because, while I love my laptop, nothing compares to writing long-hand. If the house is quiet and there’s a thunderstorm rumbling outside, even better.

Not that I have the slightest a clue what a quiet house is anymore. Having three rambunctious (but awesome) kids, a zippy dog and a pesky cat has completely blurred my memory of peace and quiet. Oh, and I have a husband too–I call him the FisherGuy–and he’s probably louder and crazier than all the rest. I think I’ll keep him though. After all, he keeps me in fresh fish year-round (yum!) and he’s good hero material. Did I mention he’s also a firefighter?

We live in Northern Wisconsin and, let me tell ya, living here has provided lots of small-town fodder for this writer’s overactive imagination. Of course, I know no one who’s lived anything close to the steamy experiences I write about (not that I’d tell ya if I did *wink*). There’s something inherently sexy about not knowing what goes on behind closed doors…or even better, letting my imagination run free, concocting all kinds of stories and scenarios and putting them down on paper. Or my laptop.
