Just Released + Official Review! Sex in the Sticks by Sawyer Bennett

Wake up and feel the wood! In the first of a series of irresistible standalone romances from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, a city girl rediscovers love and lust in the Alaskan wilderness.

Valentine French may be the sassiest dating columnist in New York City, but the abundance of metrosexuals in her adopted metropolis is seriously cramping her style. Where are the beefy all-American boys? Hoping to find some inspiration, Val heads to Alaska, where the men outnumber the women fifteen to one and wrestle grizzly bears for sport. Or so she can only imagine. Suddenly the most eligible bachelorette in a town full of horny lumberjacks, Val is writing her best columns ever. But if she doesn’t get her nose out of her laptop, she just might miss out on Mr. Right.

Logan Burke is the sheriff of the little podunk town that Val finds so charmingly backward. He’s not that different from the guys she’s using for her little experiment; it’s just that one date would never be enough for Logan. As he listens to Val complain about love over beers in the local tavern, he realizes that she can’t see the forest for the trees. Because if she would ever give up her Prada bags and fourteen-dollar martinis, Logan would give her the only luxury that matters: his heart.

Official Review!

I received a copy via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

I have read many, many books by the very talented Sawyer Bennett in the past that have varied from vengeful passion in the Sugar Bowl series, dirty kink in the Wicked Horse series, to heartfelt and poignant in The Hard Truth About Sunshine. What I have never experienced from Sawyer before is the funny bone tickling humor that shines throughout Sex In The Sticks. Sure there is plenty of steam and naughtiness to keep our imaginations fueled but the playfulness between Logan and Valentine had me laughing the night away and keeping the husband awake in ways that he didn’t think was funny at all. Sawyer takes us to Alaska to visit places like the Wounded Caribou and experience one of a kind events like the Moose Poop Drop and Wildest Woman contest.

Valentine French is a quirky heiress from New York who loves to let her sense of humor and wit flourish on her blog Valentine’s Couch outlining her dating escapades. After meeting her, I couldn’t wait to follow her to Alaska and come along on her adventures with furry, bigger than life men who live in the wilderness among a population of mostly men. It isn’t long before she had me beside myself with uncontrollable laughter and impatient to read what she writes next. I absolutely adored this heroine and her Louboutins, designer hand bags, and spunk that has readers and the citizens of East Merritt, Alaska falling head over heels for her.

Logan Burke is all kinds of sexy with his swaggering walk and uniform and gun holster. I was ecstatic when Valentine met him and the more I got to know about this dirty talking, country sheriff, the more I fell in love and couldn’t get enough. I couldn’t wait to see Logan and Valentine get down and dirty and use those cuffs for more than criminal mischief!

Sawyer Bennett delivers a love story packed with lots of comedy and heat. I highly recommend Sex In The Sticks for a read that takes you to the wilderness to fall in love with the quirkiest, sexiest couple around. Sawyer proves again and again that she can write romance from every spectrum of the genre and never fails to shake things up with a new series, keep us laughing, and give us a fabulous toe curling read.
