OFFICIAL REVIEW!

Because Beards Anthology

We all know that a little bit of scruff on a man makes him look virile, delicious, and oh so sexy! Add in some of my favorite authors and I have to experience each and every chafing, whisker burning moment of passion. So in celebration of everything masculine, it is time to jump into these hot stories and appreciate beards in all shapes and sizes from a little bit of stubble, nicely groomed chins, to all out scruffy and wild!

No Joke by Kacey Shea

After reading and falling in love with Kacey’s Uncovering Love series, I was excited and ready to jump into this sexy short story, No Joke! Her writing is down to earth, with various degrees of humor, lots of heat and plenty of heart. This time Kacey takes us to a little bar just outside Nashville to watch the fireworks between a naughty romance author that is restless and looking for some action and a scruffy, yummy bartender. Amanda is celebrating her last night in Nashville after finishing her photo shoot for her next book along with her success of hitting the USA Today’s best seller list. Now if only she could be in some of those compromising sexual positions that she writes about, with a hot guy of her own. Fortunately for her, a delicious stubble faced bartender, Brax, is looking like just the guy to help her out with that. Brax and Amanda are hot, hot, hot and know just how to heat the night and burn up the sheets… and that’s no joke!

“Why are you so good at this?” I practically growl. He smiles up at me with those ocean hued irises, wanting, needing, greedy. “It’s the beard.”

Fortune Favors The Beard by Alexis Alvarex

Alexis has always amused me with her sense of humor that shines through in her books, charmed me with her wit, and had me hot and bothered with her sexy spanky, tie-em-up stories. There hasn’t been a book of hers that I haven’t enjoyed thoroughly so getting to open another story from her is like Christmas. On this little jaunt into her fictional world we meet Arie and Carter, who take us along on a quirky ride with a feisty baker and a sexy businessman. There are mishaps, sexual tension, undeniable heat and fortune cookies. Arie Blair and Carter Hudson kept me tied in knots and wanting to see their story play out. A beard in a suit is Hmmmmm!

“I want to give her attitude, and then I want her to give me attitude, like with the bike. Then I want to fuck it out of her. Then I want to do it all over again.”

Asshole Calling by Maria Monroe

Anyone who knows me, knows that I have been a huge fan of Maria Monroe’s work since reading Julian & Lia. She draws you in, keeps you interested, and panting for more. In Asshole Calling, it is not any different. So I jumped right into read about her hero and heroine and their crazy race to the finish line in the wife carrying contest. To say that I was pleased at Jessica and Eric’s cameo appearance from The Rescue is an understatement. Maria dragged me into this world of crazy obstacle courses and a handsome man that you just can’t help but want to ride upside down and over his shoulders and possibly take a tasty bite out of his delectable butt. She had me falling for Tessa Jones, who is a people pleaser to the tenth degree… and the ruggedly handsome Dr. Benjamin Maxwell and his charitable cause. I couldn’t wait to see these two cross the finish line and find pleasure in each other’s arms.

“His beard scratches the bare insides of my thighs, just like the first time in practice, and all I can think about is how it would feel if he was there with intent. If he was there kissing my thighs, biting my skin, moving closer and closer…”

Thou Shalt Not Beard by Leslie McAdam

Anybody who has the read The Sun and The Moon by Leslie has fallen in love with the hipster, surfing sun god Ryan and the rule obsessed attorney Amelia who enchanted him. Leslie gives us a peek into this searing hot and big hearted couple and their upcoming nuptials. Coming home from a girls vacation to discover Ryan wearing a not so appealing beard and missing table settings for the wedding sends Amelia into hysterics. Once again Ryan shows Amelia that what she thought was important is not what will have them following their hearts down the aisle on their wedding day. I absolutely loved getting to spend some more time with these two! Thank you so much Leslie for pulling us back into their story and showing us their happily ever after!

“It was scruffy. This. Was. Not. Okay. Our wedding did not allow scruffy. Our wedding was going to be elegant….’Let’s see if you change your opinion when you feel this beard between your legs.’ A shudder rippled through my body involuntary.”

Opening Hearts by Jerica MacMillan

Eek! Having just finished Managed Hearts, you cannot imagine my giddiness when I started reading Opening Hearts and was taken back to the summer three years ago when Matt and Hannah first fell in love. I loved reading about Matt and his muscular frame surfing the waves of the ocean and opening his heart to Hannah. Jerica gives us summer breezes, bon fires, and undeniable sexual tension and shows her readers what leads to Hannah’s and Matt’s happy ever after in Managed Hearts. I couldn’t help but fall even harder for the young carefree surfer that Matt was in the past and the innocent and sweet Hannah. Beginnings are the sweetest with a touch of heat. My only complaint is not getting even more time with these young, frolicking hero and heroine. I want more!

“Surf lessons sound like fun.” She flapped a hand at the water. ‘You seem like a good teacher.’ He shifted closer, his blue eyes twinkling. “Oh I am.”

Confessions of a Beard Lover by Adrienne Perry

Having read The Late Train, I knew the heat that Adrienne Perry could bring to her work but little did I know how funny and hot she could give to a story of mistaken identity. She had me rolling in laughter over spilled maple syrup, stolen dry cleaning, and uttered confessions. I couldn’t help but fall for Chase and Daisy and feel their wandering hands, soft lips, and heated breath they took in the cab of that truck. Being a naughty girl and confessing your sins has never been so sexy! What could be better than a bearded priest?

” And thanks whoever else is up there who sent him to me. And you made him fucking hot too? Wait..wasn’t that like, against the rules or something. Weren’t priests supposed to be old and grandfatherly? And what’s with the facial hair?”

The Because Beards anthology has such an amazing group of authors with funny and heated stories that a reader can’t help but become consumed with every plot and obsessed with new and reoccurring characters . I highly recommend Because Beards for facial haired heroes that will have you laughing, make you swoon, and leave you blushing. There is nothing better than reading a group of stories by authors that you love and meeting and falling for new authors along the way.

For only $0.99, and all proceeds going to The Movember Foundation to benefit men’s health, this charity anthology brings you twenty-one original short stories from your favorite romance authors; some hot, others sweet, and a few ultra-steamy… but all bearded for your pleasure.

He leans forward, resting his elbows and forearms on the counter so our faces are inches apart. I’m trying to be pissed here, but with him this close I get distracted studying the way the blue in his eyes catches the dim light.
“People watching,” he murmurs, his tone a seductive allure.
“Huh?” I’m still lost in those eyes and don’t remember exactly what we’re discussing.
“The way you watch people. It’s something a writer does. Finds entertainment and joy in the mundane of life. It’s beautiful, really.”
“I never thought of it that way.”
“So, what is it that you write?” His voice is back to a casual pitch and I relax.
“Romance.”
“Ah . . . I knew with that mouth you’d have to have a naughty side. What kind of romance? Fifty Shades or the Fabio-grandma type stuff?”
I roll my eyes. “You do realize there’s so much more to it than that?” A little laugh escapes my lips and his gaze drops to my mouth. I feel the need to lick the parched skin. Fuck. I’m so screwed.
“Only if you want to be,” he says and his eyes blaze with the same heat I feel all over my skin.
“Huh?”
“You said, ‘Fuck, I’m so screwed,’ and not gonna lie. I’d like to help you with that.”
