SpotLight: A Good Cause And Great Bags Go Hand In Hand (Thirty One) – Amanda Carnes

Thirty one (4)

I thought I’d do something a little different that my normal “review” post and take some time to introduce an independent consultant with Thirty-one. We met recently on Facebook through the Saving Money In Brevard group that we are both members of. Her name is Amanda Carnes, she is a mother of two and coaches JV cheerleading at Palm Bay Magnet High School in Palm Bay, FL. She became a Thirty-One consultant about year and half ago to help support her “bag” habit and to help out some local charities. As a company, Thirty-One gives big to charities nationally so it felt like a good fit. Find out more about how they help out local charities here

For those who do not know anything about Thirty-One bags. They are a company that sells trendy and affordable purses, bags and totes. They offer many consultants a way of staying home with their family while still owning their own business and acquiring products that they love for a fraction of the cost. The consultants share the products and catalogs with friends and family in a relaxed party atmosphere and the guests can host a party of their own to earn discounted and even free product of their own. Every month there are different specials and incentives geared towards hostesses and their guests that buy products.

Thirty one (1)One of the specials this month is when someone makes a purchase of $35 worth of product they qualify to purchase a thermal bag for half off. This is one of Thirty-One’s most popular promotions since many people purchase thermal totes for the new school year or even to use for carrying lunch to work. We use thermal totes when even going to the grocery store or taking a snack that needs to be kept cold.

What I am really excited to talk about is the charity that Amanda is helping this month. Amanda is doing a fundraiser to help a local NICU. She is asking for people to donate $20 to purchase a thermal tote and she is taking her commissions to fill the totes with bottled water and snacks to help the parents save money during their stay and make it easier to transport breast milk. She’s also giving them a journal to record their thoughts and a taggy blanket for the new infant. Amanda herself had a child in the NICU and is very passionate about helping the parents in their time of need. Just having a new baby in the house can be stressful, I could not even imagine as a parent how scary it must be to have a child in the NICU that is unable to be at home with the family. She would love to raise enough money to deliver totes to 40 families.
